The Best book I read was First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones. It was hilarious and very well written. Kept me intrigued.

  2. my favorite books this year was definitely Sum by David Eagleman, 40 short stories about the afterlife, all inspiring works.

  3. Hi, Janie. The best book I read this year was “Gilead” by Marilynne Robinson. Robinson won a Pulitzer for this book in 2005. It is a penetrating look at the life of a mid 20th century Protestant minister. I would have found the life circumstances of her characters unrealistic if my own weren’t so strange, too.

I think I am going to use linkytools to replace my now defunct blog carnival with a monthly hop. You are getting a lot of participation.

  4. I would have to say horns by joe hill. I really enjoyed it.

  5. Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews. It continued the story of characters I enjoy and showed that when a couple finally comes together and is happy, it doesn’t have to spell doom for a series.

  6. My favorite was The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley and I enjoyed it because of her beautiful writing that just makes the story flow.

  7. Throuthehaze

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater is my favorite becuase it is so different from a lot of the YA books that have been coming out. It had a very unique feel to it

  8. The Time in Between was memorable and special.

  9. Colleen Turner

The best book I read was The Soldier’s Wife by Margaret Leroy. It was just beautifully written and a wonder example of great historical fiction.

  10. My favorite was Something Inside of Me by Chitoka Webb. It reminded me that even when things are bad, you can get through it. She certainly did!

  11. My favorite book of the year was probably Delirium by Lauren Oliver. That girl can just write. In the hands of a less dextrous author, that book could’ve been a disaster, but it was absolutely stunning.

  12. kelly grant

probably HUnger Games or Vampire Academy.

  13. One of the best books I read this year was Night Road by Kristin Hannah. All her books are so emotional and that’s how I connect with the characters. This book was no different and it stayed with me for awhile.

  14. My favorite was The Name of the Wind & Wise Man’s Fear – I read them back to back and in awe over all the detail, excitement, mystery – everything. For fast, fun reads, Cinder was the best in a more light-hearted, surprising way. And I listed Pride & Prejudice as my fav classic reread just ’cause quotes from the book caught me off guard randomly, which is hilarious. I posted it on my giveaway… http://www.burgandyice.blogspot.com – Great question! I love following your blog!

  15. The best book I read this year was Anessia’s Quest by Karen Arnpriester.
The book was about a girl who survived a horrible childhood to become a very productive and loving woman.

  16. My favorite from 2011 was Explosive Eighteen. I love the Stephanie Plum series and couldn’t wait until it was released.

  17. My favorite book of the year is Geek Girl by Cindy Bennett because it’s one of those books I know I will be reading over and over again!

  18. Carol Wong

The Best Book that I have read this year was ‘insane Train” by Russell Sheldon. It was so quirky and funny that I think I could easily read it five more times.

  19. Margaret

My vote is for Girl In Shades by Allison Baggio. It is a coming of age story so it has that type of memoir feel which I like and it hads a throwback to the 80’s Corey Hart in particular and as I was a fan of his back then i could relate to those moments in the book. Thanks for the giveaway!

  20. It’s hard to pick one. One book that is standing out in my mind is “The Kissing Tree” by Prudence Bice.

  21. Stephanie

My favorite book was The Help too! I do not own it though so I would love to win it! It was my favorite because it was amazing characterization and a touching story.

  22. The best book that I read this year was Hammered by Kevin Hearne. It is the third book in his Iron Druid Chronicles, which centers around a 2100 year old Druid who is living in Arizona. This book is more than just your typical urban fantasy – it showcases Hearne’s talent as a true wordsmith. He takes mythology from several different cultures and weaves it beautifully into the story. I was a fangirl within six pages of Hounded (the first book in the IDC), but Hammered cements Kevin Hearne’s place as one of my favorite authors.

  23. Skipping A Beat by Sarah Pekkanen. It was amazing. This is the closest a book has ever come to making me cry.

  24. My favorite book this year was Jodi Picoult’s Sing You Home. It was a great book with a great message :o)

  25. My favorite book was The Revisionists by Thomas Mullen. I have been reading primarily YA books lately but won this book to review and was very glad I did. It’s like The Time Traveler’s Wife, except instead of a love story it’s more a coming of age story for all the characters. Really liked it!

  26. Candie L

I loved Stealing Kevin’s Heart. I liked it because it could have been something any of my students deal with at any time. Thank you

  27. Ann Hengst

    jmesparza821(at)gmail(dot)com

  48. Mary Tillman’s “Boots on the ground by dusk” is by far the best book I read this year. Mary’s grief and anxiety over losing her son Pat during what turned out to be a friendly fire is very well captured throughout the entire book. I cried reading this book more than I ever cried reading other books, but I managed to finish it in one sitting. Never leave the house without saying I love you…

  49. My favorite book of 2011 is ‘Beautiful Dark’ by Jocelyn Davies or the ‘Tiger Curse’ series by Colleen Houck
Because these two books are so different from any book’s I’ve read before.

  50. Meghan Page

My favorite this year was raised by wolves by jennifer lynn barnes, it’s a ya book and really well written. I like it because it’s a good twist on “werewolf” stories

  53. Amanda W

My favorite book this year was The Handmaid’s Tale.

  54. mara dyer and clarity were my fav reads because they had interesting characters, plots and mysteries

  55. My best book would be Larissa Ione’s ETERNAL RIDER, the first book of the Lords of Deliverance series. I loved this book because the characters and the world are so unique and well written. There is action, romance, and humor. Not to mention HOTNESS! This was the first of Ms. Ione’s books that I read but it made me a fan and I had to go back and read all her Demonica series and the 2nd book of the LoD IMMORTAL RIDER when it was released. GREAT AUTHOR!!!

  56. Hmmmm the best book? Well, that was nearly all of them! LoL! If I had to choice just ONE it would be A Death At The North Pole by Joel M. Andre. He blends the perfect amount of suspense with the perfect amount of fantasy and horror. It really hooked me as a reader and I can’t wait for more of his work.

  57. Favorite read of 2011? A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. I have long been a lover of the fantasy genre, but I hadn’t read anything fantasy since Lord of the Rings (read before the films were released) that had really wowed me. This book did that and more. Full of adventure, suspense, poignancy (yes, I cried), it immediately entered my top ten favorite reads of all time and, of course, my number one this year. 🙂

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  58. Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, it actually got me back into reading again.

  62. Lexie@BookBug

  69. Take This Regret, by Amy Lichtenhan is one of the best books I read this year. It has great imagery and pulled strong emotions out of me – but mostly…the characters are well developed and memorable. 🙂

  71. One of my fave books from this year is If I die and why, because it rocked my socks. Rachel Vincent did an awesome job as always!!!

  72. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor – The world is so rich in detail. Listen to it on audiobook if you can. The narrator is superb!

  73. my favorite was Twilight, it gave my daughter and something to really discuss. She even took my to see Breaking Dawn for my birthday 🙂

  74. I loved the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. I think part of it was that I hadn’t expected to love it, but I really enjoyed the main character in all her imperfection and how the story progressed and I didn’t want it to end.
