Aloha Friday Edition No. 14

Kailani at An Island Life hosts Aloha Friday, based upon a very popular term used in Hawaii when island residents take it easy and look forward to the upcoming weekend — kind of like T.G.I.F.

Each Friday, Kailani posts a simple question or topic of conversation. Visitors leave a comment on Kailani’s site and then post a question or short discussion topic on their own site. Are you planning to watch the 82nd Annual Academy Awards ceremony this Sunday night? If so, which film do you believe should be named Best Picture? The ten nominated films are:

My answer:

I’m having a group of friends over this Sunday evening and we’re going to watch the Oscars together. We are printing ballots and voting — then we’ll see who most accurately predicts the actual winners.

The nominated films that I have seen so far are Avatar, Precious, and Up in the Air. By Sunday night, I plan to have also watched The Hurt Locker and District 9.

At this point, I am hoping Up in the Air wins Best Picture because I loved it. It is a brilliant movie with excellent performances and an engaging script that leaves you thinking about the movie’s message long after you see it. It is timely and timeless.
