Carnival of Family Life: The Merry Christmas 2009 — and Final — Edition

Friday, December 25, 2009

Welcome to the Merry Christmas 2009 Edition of the Carnival of Family Life. It is also the final edition of the Carnival.

In 2006, Kailani at An Island Life conceptualized and launched the Carnival at her predecessor site, The Pink Diary. In late 2007, when she was looking for someone to take over its administration, Kailani entrusted the Carnival to me. It continued as a weekly event, hosted at various sites, until August 2009, when I reduced the publication frequency to once per month.

The Carnival has remained popular, with many quality articles submitted for each edition. However, after more than two years of devoting my time and energy to it, the time is right to discontinue publication so that I can steer Colloquium in new directions in 2010. The Carnival Archive, featuring links to thousands of interesting and informative articles posted on hundreds of excellent blogs will remain online so that you can peruse prior editions.

I extend my appreciation to Kailani, as well as each and every one of you who have participated by submitting articles, hosting, or both. Your contributions have been very much appreciated!

We will miss these pithy discoveries as they pertain to family.

On this site we have learned tips about how to nourish the natural affection that should be part of every family’s ties and are far too often neglected.

We learned how to address problems of society as they impact our families.

And, we have learned about alternatives to the school choices presented to us by society.

For all of this, and much much more, Marie and I are grateful.
