That is too funny! Just this morning I kicked aside the last 3 morning papers from my doorstep. I used to be one that could not function until I had my morning paper - now it is easier to log on for the news!

i really don't know how many smaller newspapers will survive. the internet just continues to penetrate further and further into society, and as you pointed out, it's becoming easier to carry around, which unfortunately makes paper based papers redundant. my hope is that many of the writers at these places will brush up on their computer skills and attempt to transition to an online writing career.

still, it is a difficult situation. and one which won't get any better anytime soon.

kouji's most recent blog post..<a href="http://haiku-poems-blog.blogspot.com/2008/08/welcome-to-my-new-home.html" rel="nofollow">haiku poem: welcome</a>

I am a writer myself. I am thinking if it is better back then when writers writes for the sake of writing and not drawing traffic to a certain site. The newspaper industry is a sign of the traditional way of writing and delivering news. Interactive writing on the other hand, I cannot categorize "yet" cause I am still a neophyte.

I always feel guilty when I look at that pile of paper that I have to somehow dispose of. I think of the trees and how I don't read much of it any more. It definately is a time of transition for the newspaper industry and I think they need to look at creative ways to be included on line - and still make money.
