My pal Kailani at An Island Life hosts Aloha Friday, based upon a very popular term used in Hawaii when island residents take it easy and look forward to the upcoming weekend — kind of like T.G.I.F.

Each Friday, Kailani posts a simple question or topic of conversation. Visitors leave a comment on Kailani’s site and then post a question or short discussion topic on their own site. Participants visit each others’ sites and respond with a comment! Even if you do not post a question or topic on your site, you can still play by simply leaving a comment!

Here are my questions for this edition:

Can you believe that Labor Day weekend is here already? Did your summer fly by? What was the best part of the summer for you and your family? What did you plan to do that you did not get around to doing?

My answer:

I am totally stunned that it is August 29. I have no idea what happened to the summer. It seems like Memorial Day was last week! So yes, summer flew by!

The best part of the summer was, of course, vacation. Like many other Americans, we had a “staycation” but, unlike many other Americans, we’ve been spending one vacation period at home for many years. I love to travel, but also enjoy just being at home and relaxing.

I always have a to-do list as long as my arm, so I “planned” to do a lot of things that I never got around to, including cleaning out several closets and a filing cabinet, reading several more books than I managed to finish, and finding the bottom of the laundry pile. Of course, I’ve been looking for that for more than twenty-one years (when #1Son was born), so I don’t know why I always think I’m on the verge of discovering it. I guess I’m just a perpetual optimist. I am constantly crazy-busy, but given that I’m a classic Type A personality, I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
