Our lives have seriously changed so much since our childhood. TV cell phones, laptops have all become necessaries which were once upon a time luxuries.

We could attest on how technology has developed. From snail mail to e-mail, long distance calls to IMs. Long list as a matter of fact.

I personally think technology is great, it makes the gap between people less i imagine, it relaly a wonder how easy it is to get in touch with someone on the other side of the planet in only a few seconds. and so many new possibilities. still i do enjoy having time sometimes away from phones and computers, to be with myself and maybe people out of flesh and bones. just for a change... :) all is great though and a balance is what's optional for me

I was just thinking the other day while I listened to the Oldies radio station about how many of the songs were relating to talking and of course letter writing in the pre-Beatles era..... I can't help but think of the role phones have played in the movies either..... such as Donna Reed in "It's a Wonderful Life" being so close to Jimmy Stewart while talking.

I haven't heard one song yet about the joys of cell phone use ....

Hi, this is my first time visiting this blog and i can tell i am going to really like it. This post really struck a chord with me, because my four year old either wants to watch TV, play a game on the computer or play with my cellphone, and i often tell her that none of these options were available to me when was growing up, and she just looks at me as though she cant believe me!

Technology has opened so many new avenues and the advancements take my breath away. Most in a positive way but not all.

Yes, we communicate in lots of wonderful new ways, but are they beneficial. In the good 'ol days you had to learn to engage with people, converse with them and make proper conversation. All you need now is solitude and a PC with internet connection.

Mobiles/cells mean we are never out of reach, but is half of what is said relevant or useful. Do youngsters really benefit from text talk or MSN?

When was the last day that your family all sat down and did something together that didn't involve technology? And how much more fun was it?

Don't get me wrong, I am a gadget freak....but I miss how simple family life used to be....or I may be wearing rose tinted glasses again!
