Main Course

You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick, and what do you buy to spruce it up?

This one — the living room.  I want to turn this room into a screening room because the fireplace is here. I want a big, comfy L-shaped couch with a couple of ottomans, new blinds and a large flat-screen t.v. with a state-of-the-art sound system so that we can build a fire, pop some lowfat popcorn, get cozy and watch movies.

But that’s a lot more than $1,000.

So maybe we’ll just leave it as it is for now. After all, Buddy likes it here on my mother’s old, but very comfortable couch and he wants to show off his summer ‘do for you:

My youngest son, MattieBoo, says “Mom, I really don’t like the spiked look,” but I don’t care — I’m keeping my ‘do because I get a lot of compliments on it and it is so easy to deal with: Wash it, rub in some green slime, arrange the spikes and run out the door!
