Friday's Feast

Appetizer

List 3 emotions you experienced this week.

Frustration, anger, elation.

Name a car you’d love to have.

I love my Toyota Camry XLE … it’s my second one and my next car will also be a Camry.

However, if I could have any other car, I would pick my 1968 Mercury Cougar. That was a great car. Avocado green with a black vinyl top and interior. V8 289 engine. Factory air. AM/FM with an 8-track player. Sweet.

Here’s a blast from the past: That’s me (check out that long hair) putting banners on my Cougar so that we could parade up and down the street in front of the school campaigning for Gerald Pezzi who was running for Tokay High Student Body President (yes, he won). This photo was taken in the spring of 1974. Note that my sister (also with long hair) is walking toward her 1971 Cougar — olive green with a white vinyl roof. Oh, yeah … have I mentioned that my father was employed for 27 years as a mechanic at a Lincoln-Mercury dealership? Hence, we were a three Mercury household at that point.

Yes, folks this photo was taken right here in front of the Hickok Homestead in which we currently reside … a few feet from where I’m sitting as I type this — I’m right next to the living room window just above the bricks on the right side of the picture.

Describe your typical morning routine.

That depends on the day of the week. On Sunday, I sleep as late as I feel like sleeping. No alarm clock. We hang out … watch our Netflix selections or some t.v., read, surf the ‘Net, whatever …

Monday through Friday during the school year, I have to take my youngest to school by 7:50 a.m. If I’m working at home, I don’t get dressed. Sssssssshhhhhh … don’t tell anyone that I take him to school either in my jams or work-out clothes — I usually take a water aerobics class first thing in the morning, then come home, sit down to work and stay put for many hours. Otherwise, I get dressed, drop him at school, and then go on to my destination for the day, whether it be the office, a meeting, speaking engagement, etc.

On Saturday, I get up by 8:30 a.m. so that I can pull on my work-out clothes and get to water aerobics by 9:00 a.m. That’s the day that I sometimes spend a few minutes in the jacuzzi or sauna after class before heading back home.

Have you ever emailed someone famous? If so, who, and what did you say to them? Did they reply?

Nope. I’ve met quite a few famous people over the years. But there’s only one that I stay in touch with on a regular basis: My good friend, Clint Ritchie. When he retired after playing “Clint Buchanan” on “One Life to Live” for nearly twenty years, he said he was going to learn how to use his computer, but he never has. So we communicate the old fashioned way, i.e., via telephone. Sometimes I get e-mail for him from fans who visit the website I designed and maintain for him. I either forward the messages on to his bookkeeper to print out for him, or print them out and fax them to him. (This photo is from the Buchanan City 1888 storyline.)

Do you listen to podcasts? If so, which ones?

Frankly, I’m not sure what a podcast is. But I know how to hack my blog template! Does that count?
