This Week’s Theme: Steps

I dug way back into the archives for this little gem! That’s me playing my clarinet and marching with the Lodi Senior Elementary School Band in the annual Grape Festival Parade down Pine Street. This photo was snapped by my father as he watched the parade in September 1968. There is still a festival every year, but they discontinued the parade a few years ago due to low turn-out and lack of interest. Here’s a shot of me in my band uniform, taken in the backyard before the parade.

I look at this picture and wonder why I thought I was fat. I wish I could wear that uniform now! I’m working on it, though . . . today I wore a suit that I haven’t had on in about five years because it was too small. (I deliberately buy professional clothing items that won’t go out of style.) It is plenty loose now. Don’t ask me how many pounds I have lost because I don’t weigh. I just judge by how my clothes fit. But based upon what I know about my weight when I last wore that suit, I’m estimating that I’ve lost in the vicinity of 40 – 50 pounds. When I reach my goal size, I am going to have my doctor tell me what my highest weight was and how many pounds I have lost at that time. Until then . . . I’m just happy to be rediscovering some “new” old clothes! My methodology: 1) Water aerobics as often as possible; 2) Consume no more than 20 grams of fat per day; 3) Advocare.

Love these old photos. Lots of fun and gee you definitely were not fat. Keep going with your weight loss. Happy weekend.

  8. I always thought that I was fat in high school, too, but boy was I ever wrong! I like your philosophy of not weighing yourself but going by how things fit. Stepping on a scale every day can be way too depressing!

  9. Haha! I love these especially the one where you marked where you were in the band. πŸ™‚

I imagine you took hundreds of steps in that marching band!

You know, I do the same thing when I look at pictures of myself as a child and a teen. I was never skinny, but I am not near as fat in those pictures as I thought I was at the time, and I would love to be that size now! Congratulations on your weight loss!

  11. Sounds like your doing great at the weight loss- well done
