Thirteen of My All-Time Favorite Love Songs

Narrowing this list down to only thirteen songs was just about impossible! But in no particular order, here are thirteen of my all-time favorite love songs. You can listen to all or some of them using the neat little MP3 player I’ve added to the right sidebar.

  1. The Story of My Life (Neil Diamond)
  2. It Might Be You (Stephen Bishop from “Tootsie”)
  3. Music of the Night (from “The Phantom of the Opera” performed here by Michael Crawford with Barbra Streisand)1
  4. When You Love Someone (Bryan Adams from “Hope Floats”)
  5. The Right Thing to Do (Carly Simon)
  6. You Can Close Your Eyes (James Taylor)
  7. My Baby You (Marc Anthony)
  8. I Finally Found Someone (Bryan Adams and Barbra Streisand from “The Mirror Has Two Faces”)
  9. The Last Time I Felt Like This (I Was Falling in Love) (Jane Olivor and Johnny Mathis from “Same Time, Next Year”)
  10. The Gift (Jim Brickman, Collin Raye)
  11. You (Jane Olivor)
  12. In This Life (Collin Raye — “One Life to Live” fans will recognize this as Jake and Megan’s theme)
  13. That Was a River (Collin Raye)

Bonus: Some Enchanted Evening, as recorded by the incomparable Jane Olivor

Next week: Thirteen of the Songs that Most Make Me Want to Cry in My Beer

  1. I’ve seen “The Phantom of the Opera” four times — twice in Los Angeles starring Robert Guillaume and twice in San Francisco starring Franc D’Ambrosio. I wish I could have seen Michael Crawford perform the role, but, alas, I was not so fortunate.
