If you could take lessons to learn any musi­cal instru­ment, which would you want to learn?

I’m still totally enthralled with improv­ing my flute play­ing. After all, the Delta Winds’ per­for­mance at Carnegie Hall is com­ing up on March 28, 2007! If you’re going to be in New York City, come see us that evening! I will be in the front row on your right as you view the stage, fifth seat in. Come say hello after the concert!

My next instru­ment is going to be an alto flute. I love the deep, rich, melo­di­ous tones of the alto flute.

Soup

Have you ever mis­taken a per­son for some­one else?

Yup. Most recently in Decem­ber. I was walk­ing to my allergist’s office and I thought I saw a friend from church … it was a woman who could be her dou­ble. For­tu­nately, I just said, “Hi” in a very upbeat “oh-how-nice-to-see-you” way. She sort of looked at me as if to say “Do I know you?” while she mum­bled an unen­thu­si­as­tic “hello” in return. I real­ized she wasn’t my friend, so I was very happy I hadn’t said, “Hi, ________.” This way, I was able to just smile and keep walk­ing. She’s prob­a­bly still try­ing to fig­ure out who the strange woman that talked to her was.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being high­est, how well do you keep secrets?

I’m a lawyer. Lawyers keep secrets. It’s in our job descrip­tion. We can’t tell.
Ever.

Which leaves peo­ple won­der­ing what we know.
That’s one of the fun parts of the job.

Some­times I wish I didn’t know.
That’s one of the draw­backs of the job.

What’s the clos­est you’ve ever been to a dan­ger­ous animal?

I once pet­ted a tiger at Marine World in Vallejo.

Dessert

When was the last time you lost your patience?

I guess that would have to be a few weeks ago when I decided that, for the sake of my own health and san­ity, I had to extri­cate myself from a toxic con­gre­ga­tion and leave orga­nized reli­gion behind. I now wor­ship at the “Church of Sleep­ing Late on Sun­day Morn­ing” — and love every minute of it.
