Appetizer

Which celebrity (or celebrities) do you think will make headlines this year?

Lindsay, Britney, Nicole, Paris … blah, blah, blah. It will be more discussion of the Dimwit Squadron. I don’t care about the personal lives of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt or any of the rest of them. Tell me whether their work is any good, but spare me the details about who they are dating or where they are partying! I am seriously repulsed by the media’s fascination with those people and the way that we, as Americans, encourage the media by gobbling up every word and image published about them. Have you ever noticed how those kinds of headlines assault you every time you turn on your television set, visit many websites (even those devoted to legitimate news include that kind of nonsense), or just try to shop for simple necessities like food?

Do you ever watch “Jaywalking” on “The Tonight Show”? I do and even though I find myself laughing hysterically, it really isn’t funny when a woman is on national television bragging that she just graduated from college with a major in history, but can’t name the current Vice President of the United States! (Actual example.) If people were less concerned with what a bunch of marginally-talented celebrities are doing with their lives and focused more on their own self-improvement and intellectual development, they might really accomplish something!

Ok, I will now step down from my soap box!

Name a song that makes you want to dance.

Just one? Oh, my … that’s really hard. The last CD I bought was KT Tunstall’s album, Eye to the Telescope, so one song that immediately comes to mind is:

If you were to write a do-it-yourself article, what would it be about?

I did write one! Check it out at Write Anything!
