Our Christmas tree always bears these ornaments, made by my friend since childhood, Lynette, to look exactly like my girls. I was very touched when she gave them to me some 20 or so years ago. They are priceless and we hang them every year in memory of . . .

Shivers.
She was the biggest pain-in-the-butt cat who ever lived! But we loved her, even though when we first started dating, she tried to run BigBob off!
T.C.
Short for “Top Cat,” but we affectionately called her “TC’er.” She wandered into my life when I was living in Glendale, California, in 1981. I named her after the cartoon character. I had never had a pet before in my life. She slept on my feet every night for 18 years. Even though I lost her in early September 1998 (just three days after our wonderfully loving Golden Retriever, Lady, died in her sleep at the age of 13 1/2), I still think about and miss her every single day. I will probably never own another cat not only because I would always be comparing it to TC’er, but also because I have developed allergies and cannot co-exist with Buddy and Sophie without medication.
O.K., so it isn’t totally wordless. The photos needed some explanation!

2My mother still has ornaments from when I was a baby. I think that is really neat.
Happy New Year!
